Doctor Tuttle is in!
Sam White has been drawing comics and writing for as long as he can remember, with Charles Schulz and Louis L’Amour being his two biggest influences. Working now in the medical field, Sam sees a lot that needs to be commented on — and hence Tuttle, the doctor and friend to a whole slew of crazies. Tuttle’s and DoctorTuttle run in several newspapers in Texas. Sam’s novels can be found at garisonfitch.com.

Bananaesque

Based on an actual bag of “banana chips” purchased at a local health food store. I ate them because, well, I’m a snacker, but they had almost no flavor and weren’t exactly crunchy.

Tasty Treat

What I can’t stand are the fruit-flavored antacids. I’d rather be nauseous.

It Means, Um … Give Me a Minute…

According to medicine.net: “Abbreviation meaning ‘when necessary’, from the Latin “‘pro re nata’.“

Initial Assessment

I think of this every time I have to do an “initial assessment” of a patient at work. I mean, it should take like 2 seconds, right?

Sync

This one was inspired by my work as a hospice chaplain. We were given new tablets last year which require sync’ing several times a day. This strip went over very well at work, even with the bosses.

You Are What You Eat

As you probably already knew, flamingos are pink because of all the shrimp they consume. I just wondered what would happen if a flamingo ate lots of guacamole. I’m guessing it would die, but would it turn green first?

Important Information for the Doctor to Have

At the medical office where I work, I happened to notice there was some Italian dressing in the fridge that was “best if used by” six years before. I almost felt bad throwing it out, considering it had survived at least three corporate mergers and a buy-out.

Fun With Catheters

When sitting in interdisciplinary team meetings, I’m the one cringing when the talk turns to catheters, as it often does.
