The newest edition of “The Illustrated Bible” from Zondervan Publishing features a picture of popular talk show host, media mega-star, and current national guru Oprah Winfrey next to 2 Timothy 3:5-6.
“It’s actually kind of weird,” says lead editor Herman Schnank, former Dean of Ministry at fundamentalist Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. “We didn’t actually plan on putting a picture next to those verses at all; it just appeared on it’s own. Every time we tried to remove it–or even replace it with a picture of a potsherd found near Ephesus–back would come the picture of Oprah.
“We’re thinking either it’s either some kind of computer virus or, possibly, the hand of God protecting his Word. Now we’re kind of hoping Ms. Winfrey will invite us on her show to talk about it because you can’t buy that kind of publicity! Not on our budget, anyway.”
