What Do I Have of REAL Value? Tweet This is the first mention in the strip that Pete has a lot of money. Now, I’m wondering if it’s true and he just works as a fry cook for something to do, or does he think what he has makes him wealthy? Which would kind of make him more sane than we’ve previously thought.
Possum, Opossum or Large Vermin? Tweet Possums do a great service to us all, eating something like 5000 ticks a year per possum … but they sure are ugly.
Foreign Food Tweet I’m guessing you can make refried beans from coffee beans. I hate coffee, so I would never try, but if you try it, let me know if it worked.
Short Months Tweet The full saying, as my sister taught me, is, of course: Thirty days hath Septober, Octember and No Wonder all eat sandwiches except for Grandma who rides a bicycle with thirty spokes who don’t speak unless spoken to.
Unequally Yoked — Not Yolked Tweet I like Trek and Wars both and have little patience for the knuckleheads who say you have to like one or the other. Not like we’re talking Coke vs. Pepsi here, folks!
Novelizations Tweet There are people who think this way. Who didn’t realize “The Hobbit” (and LOTR) were loosely based on existing books. But now, I’m surprised they didn’t come out with watered-down, simplified novels for the movies. Publishing thinks less and less of it’s readers and is mandating that authors not use compound sentences, keep the paragraphs short, and write everything at an 8th grade level. Are they correct in thinking so low of their audience, or are they trying to make their readers dim?
Scrabblarski Tweet By the end of “War and Peace”, I had pretty much given up on keeping the names straight. Enjoyed the book, though. Will I ever read it again? I doubt it.
Quixote Lives Tweet I like the idea that Pete may be both smarter and dumber than we think–at the same time!
Even Worse than the Pancreas? Tweet Yes, I know most people don’t find anything funny about cancer, but I don’t find anything funny about Lubbock, so it all works out, right?
